PNRD Assam Syllabus 2026

The Commissionerate of Panchayat & Rural Development, Assam has released an advertisement for the recruitment of 1508 no. of vacancies of GPC, GRA, CA and AE on 21th of February, 2026. The online application process is going on and end on 22nd of March. In this article will discuss Syllabus, selection process and exam pattern.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of:

  1. Written Examination (OMR Based)
  2. Viva Voce (Interview)

Candidates whose applications are accepted will be called for the written examination. The name of the examination centre will be mentioned in the Admit Card issued by the Commissioner, Panchayat & Rural Development (P&RD). The exam centre will be allotted based on the candidate’s permanent address.

Negative Marking Rules

  • 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (for 1-mark questions).
  • 0.5 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (for 2-mark questions, if applicable).
  • Negative marking will also apply if more than one option is selected.

Papers & Posts

There will be two separate written examinations:

Paper-I

For the following posts:

  • Gaon Panchayat Coordinator
  • Computer Assistant
  • Gram Rojgar Sahayak

Candidates must submit their post preference while applying for Paper-I.

Paper-II

For the post of:

  • Accredited Engineer

Candidates may apply separately for Paper-I and Paper-II if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Question Paper Pattern

The written examination will consist of the following sections:

  1. Domain Knowledge
  2. Computer Proficiency
  3. Logical Reasoning, Aptitude & Comprehension
  4. History and Culture of Assam & India
  5. General Knowledge

For the post of Accredited Engineer, additional questions related to technical knowledge (as per required qualification) will be included.

Viva Voce (Interview)

  • Viva Marks: 25 Marks
  • Only candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for Viva.

Merit List Preparation

  • Merit list will be prepared category-wise for each post.
  • Only ONE merit list per category will be published:
    • Unreserved
    • SC
    • ST(P)
    • ST(H)
    • OBC/MOBC
  • Final selection will be equal to the number of advertised vacancies.

Waiting List Validity

A waiting list will also be prepared based on merit.
The waiting list will remain valid for one year from the date of result publication.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

In case of equal marks:

  1. The candidate older in age will be placed higher in the merit list.
  2. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher educational qualification will be ranked higher.

1. What is the exam pattern of P&RD Assam Recruitment 2026?

The written test will be OMR based and consist of 75 questions carrying 75 marks. The duration of the exam is 2 hours and candidates must use a black ball pen.

2. Is there negative marking in the P&RD written examination?

Yes. 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (for 1-mark questions). Negative marking also applies if more than one option is selected.

3. What subjects are included in the P&RD Assam written exam?
